Fall is almost here and I’m so ready! And that means that fall fashion is almost here too ~ it’s time to get cozy! Except the weather doesn’t always cooperate with my cozy fashion plans, so here are a few ideas to get your fall outfit wheels turning, no matter the weather. These looks feature my new favorite fall fashion color –would we call it Harvest Gold? Mustard? I think the term “harvest gold” brought back too much of a 70’s vibe for my mom , so the jury’s still out :). Well whatever it is, I am so totally here for this color and hope it inspires some new go-to looks for you.
I always love those “celebrity copycat fashion” articles and posts that you see around, but you know who I think has the absolute best copycat looks? Just regular women I see around town. This outfit combo was 100% inspired by someone I saw at the gym. When I realized I was creepily staring at her, I had to stop her and tell her how much I loved her outfit. So if you see me creepily staring at you, sorry-not-sorry, I will probably stop you too because I’m totally loving your look.
Because early fall can be tricky depending on where you live — will it be 100° or 40°? Here are two wear to work options and one more casual fashion option. P.S. if you think this mustard/gold color might not be for you, seriously give it a try. The woman I saw it on had a really different skin tone from mine and it turned out to be really flattering on both of us. If you’re not into gambling, go with the Nordstrom option below – it’s always free shipping and free returns, so nothin’ to lose!
Fall Fashion Look #1 – for a warm weather /early fall
Pants – These pants are what I like to call a “pull-on pant” and are the ultimate in tailored-looking comfort. Great stretch that doesn’t lose it’s shape. Find them at Dress Barn (they still have a few in stock here in Petites, or Old Navy has something super similar here)
Blouse – JC Penney (something similar here)
Fall Fashion Look #2 – Time to get cozy
Sweater – Nordstrom (find it here) I actually would never have tried this sweater if it wasn’t for another blogger, Living in Yellow’s, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coverage. I don’t know how often something looks “meh” on the model, but fantastic in real life, but this is one of those times. Plus if you’re feeling fun, you can pull it off the shoulder for a sassier look (see below). So you can wear it to work, knowing it has a secret fun side to take it into a date night look. Or maybe your workplace is fun like that and values sassy fashion — if it is, please let me know, because that’s a business I 100% want to support.
Fall Fashion Look #3 – A little sassy, casual fashion
I love pulling the sweater a little off the shoulder here, and I’ve paired it with my go-to jeggings from Kohl’s that you can find here. Seriously, I own these in two washes in the full length and two in the crop length and pretty sure I see some more in my future. Because if you find jeggings you LOVE, you gotta have back-ups, right? Read my full review on these jeggings here and you can find the booties here. I’m never ready to say goodbye to sandals, but a shearling cozy bootie certainly takes the edge off the transition :).
Anything else you guys are loving for fall, or great outfit inspo you’ve seen around town? I’d love to hear in the comments!

You look awesome in the “mellow yellow”
Thank you! “Mellow yellow” I love that! I knew “harvest gold” wasn’t it, but just couldn’t get there!
I don’t care what you call it…I love it!! These looks look so good on you! I actually just tried a more mustardy (if that’s even a word) color last fall and really loved it!!
Thank you! It’s a color I maybe would have passed over in the past, but I’m in love with it too! Plan on seeing me in it all fall long, hehe.
You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
Beautiful lady and this color (yellow) suits you alot.. i wish i could also wear that :(. But you looks gorgeous.
