Stitch Fix Review #11! If you’re not familiar with the service, Stitch Fix is a styling service where you fill out a profile and a stylist chooses five pieces (clothes, shoes, accessories) to send your way for a $20 styling fee. If you keep anything from your fix your $20 fee is applied as a credit and if you keep all five things, you receive a 25% discount on your whole fix. You have three business days to make your choices and anything you don’t like gets popped into a prepaid envelope and dropped into the mail. Basically Stitch Fix is a mail order personal shopper. My last Stitch Fix was a 0/5, and after any of those, I’m always anxious for another try at it. This time I went with no notes, just going to see what happens with what they send. I did stick with the same stylist even though the last one was a 0 out 5 — it wasn’t due to the fact that she didn’t get my style, a lot of it was that the pieces were too close to things I already own. So based on the preview, I thought this was a 1/5 or 2/5 tops, but it was a surprise 5/5! So here’s what they sent this time …
Stitch Fix Piece #1 Market & Spruce Meg Knit Dress
Initial Thoughts: I’ve been in the market for a loose housedressy type dress. Something I can kick around the house in, but not be afraid I’ll be on the “People at Walmart” website roundup if I have to venture out in it.
The Try-On: Nothing can ruin casual wear faster than it being too body fitting — hello, the point is loosey goosey comfort — and this one is great for body skimming, a good length and nice and bright. Maybe not the most flattering dress I’ve ever had on, but the focus on this pick for me is comfort and looking decentish. And this fits that bill.
The Verdict: Kept!
Stitch Fix Piece #2 Serein Rylin Pintuck Detailed Cap-Sleeve Blouse
Initial Thoughts: Cute ~ love the cut and I’m a sucker for navy, but I have a super similar blouse like this in royal from this fix and I was interested, but not wowed.
The Try-On: So I wasn’t going to keep it, but then I saw it with these shorts they sent (reviewed below) and I loved the crisp, polished look of it all. I could have passed on the blouse and tried to find something else to match the shorts (spoiler alert, loved those too), but it’s here, cute and matches perfectly. Why make extra work? AKA my lazy girl fashion mantra.
The Verdict: Kept!
Stitch Fix Piece #3 41 Hawthorn Clearwater Mixed Material Blouse
Initial Thoughts: Love it! Love the color, interesting cut and I think I it’s a potential fit for both work and casual which isn’t a lot of pieces to be totally honest. I’ve literally never one time needed to go from day to night, but maybe that’s because I didn’t have the piece to make that happen.
The Try-On: Love when how you hope something will look on is how it actually looks! Love the drapey front but that it’s not too low. Definitely have had drape fronts that I’ve spent the entire night adjusting to avoid giving a free show — no thank you sir!
The Verdict: Kept!
Stitch Fix Piece #4 Bancroft Doris 3-Piece Cuff Set
Initial Thoughts: Can I be honest? Sometimes Stitch Fix sends some real snoozers for jewelry. Like ho hum, another long plain silver necklace, snooze! I kinda thought this would be one of them. Just a basic bangle set, nothin’ to see here.
The Try-On: So I will eat my words on this one. I think the mixed metals make it extra cute. Love that it’s an open bangle style and I just feel super fancy when they clink together.
The Verdict: Kept!
Stitch Fix Piece #5 Dear John Fran Printed Short
Initial Thoughts: Me: “I’m all set on shorts, don’t need a single other pair of shorts, no shorts needed here.”
The Try-On: Stitch Fix: “But what if we made them a fabulous poplin that’s fitted but a stretchy dream?” Umm, okay you got me. The 12’s did fit, but only if I stood perfectly still and did not plan to stand in any other way but in a straight up-and-down clothespin style. I exchanged them for a 14 and they were perfect!
The Verdict: Exchanged for a 14
I’m really in an all or nothin’ mindset here, but the budget dictates that the next fix needs to a one out of five, lol. This next one I’m not doing any special requests, just going to let it ride again. What’s on your list for your next fix? I’d love to hear in the comments! And I’d love for you to check out all of my past Stitch Fix Reviews here.
Such a good one!! I loved that striped dress!!! And have requested that green too before!! Now I want it even more!!
I’ve viewed 3 or 4 of your stitch fix reviews thus far and I am so excited about the quality and convenience. Not excited about the price point but definitely worth the extra money compared to Nadine. I can see you’re much more in your element and comfort zone in these items, the pink striped tank dress is actually super flattering on you, love the cut. Thanks again for taking the guesswork out of what these experiences are like for those of us who are wondering.
I’m so glad these were helpful! Stitch Fix pieces are pricier, but the drape and cut are definitely more to my style. The thinner Nadine West pieces aren’t always flattering on me, but I’ve found some winners there!
