Stitch Fix Review August 2019! If you’re not familiar with the service, Stitch Fix is a styling service where you fill out a profile and a stylist chooses five pieces (clothes, shoes, accessories) to send your way for a $20 styling fee. If you keep anything from your fix your $20 fee is applied as a credit and if you keep all five things, you receive a 25% discount on your whole fix. You have three business days to make your choices and anything you don’t like gets popped into a prepaid envelope and dropped into the mail. Basically Stitch Fix is a mail order personal shopper. My last fix was a 5/5 and I feel like any fix after that is coming in at a disadvantage. They can’t all be 5/5 (unless I win the lottery or similar and then it’s all Stitch Fixes, all the time 🙂 so I feel like I have to be extra super picky going into it. I didn’t leave a note for my stylist this time, just rolled the dice and saw what happened. Here’s what they sent for this summer fix …
Stitch Fix Piece #1 Daniel Rainn Veronika Pleated Detail Blouse
Initial Thoughts: Stitch Fix is a little like Amazon in that if you get one floral blouse, they think that’s the kickoff piece for a floral blouse collection you’re starting. There’s only so many floral blouses I can handle in my life guys, as much as I like them.
The Try-on: Okay the sun has washed the color out in this photo because I needed those sunglasses to look right at the color. I LOVE bright colors and this was too much, even for me. Think of the brightest color you’ve ever seen and then make it brighter. In person it was bonkers.
The Verdict: Returned!
Stitch Fix Pick #2 Collective Concepts Perla Textured Ruffle Detail Dress
Initial Thoughts: Definitely a dress person and I like the cut and color. Giving me a tiny bit of a “Little House on the Prairie” vibe which I can 100% not pull off.
The Try-on: It’s a straight up Laura Ingalls Wilder aesthetic on me … not a win.
The Verdict: Returned!
Stitch Fix Piece #3 41 Hawthorn Breyson Pleated Detail Blouse
Initial Thoughts: See above — can only have so many floral blouses, but I so love this color. This color is me, I love everything about the color and print.
The Try-on: It’s as cute on and wonderful as I’d imagined. But truly I have sooo many of this style of blouse. Spoiler alert, as I’m typing this, I am regretting this decision …
The Verdict: Returned and now I have returner’s remorse (buyer’s remorse’s evil cousin. At least with buyer’s remorse you’ve still got the stuff!)
Stitch Fix Piece #4 Level 99 Francis Straight Leg Pant
Initial Thoughts: Super underwhelmed. I’ve always been envious of people who kick around in a chino or fitted pant looking so cute. My body type is not made for anything other than stretch. Otherwise I’m gooshed up top with a handful of loose fabric flapping in the breeze around the thigh area. No, no, no.
The Try-on: These pants are truly fantastic. Remember on Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants when they had those magical pants that fit everyone? These are those pants’ grown up cousin. The rise hits higher than you’d think, you have all of the polished look of a chino, but from a comfort standpoint, I could be wearing a yoga short. Seriously, these moved with me every move I made and the color is a really interesting turquoise. Not so interesting you can’t match it with anything, but not your basic navy either.
The Verdict: This was the piece I thought I’d dislike the most and ended up loving the most. Kept!
Stitch Fix Pick #5 Stella & Ruby Clarette Station Necklace
Initial Thoughts: Meh. I have several long metallic necklaces, and this one didn’t really whip me into a frenzy.
The Try-on: Fine for a basic long necklace, but I have something super similar.
The Verdict: Returned!
That’s it for Stitch Fix #12! Next time I’m asking for a fabulous coat that popped up in my Style Shuffle – I am absolutely a coat hoarder, but central Illinois has approximately 5,497 coat wearing occasions and I feel like that’s the appropriate amount of coats to own, hehe. Have a great week!
I actually loved both floral tops, but you are so right!! Once they send you one, they send you a million! 😂 love the pants!
