Sugar Plum Fairy cookies are perfectly purple and sparkly fun. Perfect for a Nutcracker viewing party or just a fun Christmas cookie outside of the red and green color scheme! This post contains affiliate links.
Unlike the Grinch movie, I did know the Nutcracker movie was coming out. It came on as a preview and I was mesmerized when the first few notes came on. I love being a boy mom, but I don’t have a lot of a chance to geek out over childhood toys with the boys like my husband does. The Amazon Toy Book came in the mail and my husband was laughing with glee over the vintage toy section. Yep, the 80’s kids are “vintage” now :). So when I heard the first few notes of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy I was totally there for it. What better way to take your geeking out to the next level than by creating a baked good tribute? But much like Hot Buttered Rum sugar plums sound really Christmasy, but I don’t actually want to eat hot rum with butter in it or a plum with sugar on it. I just like the idea of it. So these Sugar Plum Fairy Cookies are purple, sparkly fun and have a light, fruity taste. Perfect for a new Christmas cookie to add to your platter.
Sugar Plum Fairy Cookie How-to
Grab your sugar cookie mix — I always use Betty Crocker– and prepare it per package directions. Then add half a box of Berry Blue jello and half a box of Cherry Jello to the bowl with 2 T of water and mix it all up. Fun fact, I went to the store thinking I would grab some grape Jello, but they don’t make it. No purple Jello to be found, so that’s why the mixing of boxes.
Scoop out balls of dough and roll them in sugar or sanding sugar. I like a little extra bling on my cookies, so I went with this sugar here. Roll them until coated.
Bake at 375° — I used a silicone baking mat on an AirBake sheet– for 11-14 minutes or until the bottoms are browned.

What do they taste like flavor wise? Cherry?
I was wondering if you could use strawberry jello instead of cherry? I don’t like cherry flavoring.
Thanks
I did find Grape jello! Going to make these for Christmas cookie tray.
